The New Cities is a Juno Award and ADISQ Award nominated band originating from Trois-Rivières and currently based in Montreal, Canada. The bands sophomore album, Kill the Lights has been released on September 27th, 2011. The first single called "Heatwave", co-written by the band and The Matrix, has been released on June 16, 2011. It features a melody from the song Tarzan Boy, popularized in 1985 by Baltimora. Following the release of their new album, the band joined Avril Lavigne in Canada to support her 2011 Black Star Tour. .
