Incident at Neshabur refers to an ancient city in today's Iran, former Persia. It was a trading place and also a mystical place for pilgrims way back before Christian times. It fits into the spiritual world of Carlos who choose to write a song about that particular place. As one of the last tracks on the legendary "Abraxas" album it already indicates Carlos' wish to broaden his musical horizon towards jazz, which will manifest itself later in the album "Caravanserai".
