A big Hit song, penned by Laura Nyro, recorded by The 5th Dimension, and who actually turned many Nyro Tunes into Monster Hits!!
A great insight into the one person who may have guided a young and impressionable Todd Rundgren into his now distinctive Piano Style. This song is a good example of Rundgren's early point of reference, as it was rumored that Ms Nyro influenced Todd greatly as he was learning to write songs for Piano, the Voicings heard here all but confirm that rumor.
This is my own personal arrangement, just a few variations of the Recorded Versions over the years. We were to record this song years ago, but it never reached the Studio, just some bizzare work mixes, complete with some great Horn Sections... There are three modes of thought behind this Tablature:
1) A Full Piano Score, Tabbed Note-for-Note from original Recording.
2) Consider this an arrangement for Two Guitars.
3) A "Classical" Guitar Score. Tune as follows: (E, A, D, G, B, E), and use Gtr 1 as Melody, and use Gtr 2 as Bass Line.
